The course features two loops through historic Bovina Center, beginning at Creamery Park, home of the Bovina Dairymen, a vintage baseball team. The field, walking and hiking trails, a bridge over the Little Delaware, and a new pavilion were built by the Livestock Foundation, a co-organizer and financial supporter of the event. “We are thrilled to host The Bovina 5k at the new pavilion this year,” said Andrea Dowell, executive director of the Livestock Foundation.

Livestock Foundation is a Bovina-based non-profit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to preserve the rural traditions, history, culture, and economic viability of Delaware County, New York through historic preservation and community building. The Bovina Farmers Market, now in its sixth year, is also held at the pavilion every Friday evening 4-7pm, through August 29.

The Catskill Mountain Club, also an organizing partner of the event, is a non-profit organization whose mission includes promotion of non-motorized outdoor recreational activities and enhancing public awareness and appreciation of the Catskill Region. The Club’s executive director, Peter Manning, who is also a resident of Bovina Center, remarked, “The Bovina 5K combines our scenic and historical assets with a recreational event that attracts a wide range of participants and strengthens the collective spirit.”

Alan Davidson of Bovina, also one of the event’s organizers and an avid runner, reflected, “The Bovina 5k isn’t just about the miles we run -- it’s about coming together and making a difference in the community."

The organizers thank the following supporters, whose contributions once again helped tremendously in hosting a quality event: Town of Bovina; Delaware County Economic Development Tourism Grant Program; Delaware County Sheriff’s Office; Delaware County Department of Public Works; Bovina EMS and Fire Department; Russell’s Store; Laurdom Cattle Company; Clark Companies; Tim Cunningham; Carol Smith, Mark Foster, Chris and Patti Ezzo; Victoria LaFever and Bovina Syrup; Skip Baxter, Delaware Academy; Decker Advertising; Catskill Recreation Center; Christian Harder; David Pollack, and all the volunteers.
