Mission

The Livestock Foundation’s mission is to preserve the rural traditions and communities of Delaware County through programming that supports and encourages agricultural engagement and education.

Livestock Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with a 55-acre working farm in Bovina Center. In the years to come, we hope to create a truly distinctive educational farm where students, families and foodies can learn about the economic, environmental and cultural value of small farms.

John Finn, President With the addition of the farm, which would have otherwise remained idle and fallen into disrepair, we have an opportunity to further preserve the culture and heritage of Bovina while showcasing dairy farming with a modern take on value-added production.

Wendy Buerge, Vice President I returned to this area to reconnect with the beauty of the mountains and commit myself to work that has meaning and purpose. John and I are committed to bringing the type of commerce to the area that will not change it, but enhance it.

Steve Burnett Making our agriculture accessible to the many - to both the Prince and the Pauper - in the forms of food, experience and a community is the work of the Foundation.

Ed Denison It is difficult to imagine our rural landscape without barns, traditional farm houses and livestock in meadows. The Foundation is important to our community because rural life and its history is invaluable, and merits preservation.

Lisa Wisely It's so easy to become disconnected from the history of a region. I'm thrilled to see an organization dedicate itself to connecting a community to it's agricultural past while thinking about the business opportunities for an entire region in the future.
